£50 Million Student Accommodation schemes to aid City Regeneration

Great Newton Street

The Great Newton Street development saw a former car park and disused University property turned into a dynamic 267 bed student hall of residence next to the University of Liverpool's campus, the development was designed by Leach Rhodes Walker Architects and constructed by Marcus Worthington's.

Worthington Properties acquired the site from The University of Liverpool in August 2012 to develop a striking new scheme to help attract students to the city.

Spread over four and seven storeys, Great Newton Street has clusters of bedrooms based around a communal living area. Unlike other student accommodation, it has set new standards in space and quality with larger rooms all with en-suites and bespoke fitted furniture. It also has a private student garden and amenity area to meet the needs of the modern day student.

LDG Contracts was appointed to supply and install 169 Aluminum Windows and 2 Aluminum Doors, 27 Curtain Wall Screens. Our fitting teams were on site between July & August 2014.

Philharmonic Court

The second of the two schemes, situated on Great Newton Street, has seen development on a former car park and disused former University property. The striking building is between four and seven stories with 267 rooms available. This scheme also has a private student garden and amenity area, made up of four connected blocks each with its own entrance hall and core area.

LDG Contracts was appointed to supply and install 518 Aluminum Windows and 12 Aluminum Doors, 19 Curtain Wall Screens. Our fitting teams are on site at present aiming for completion August 2015.

LDG Contracts has a long standing and successful working relationship with Marcus Worthington's Ltd and are delighted to continue to build and strengthen the partnership which has continued to flourish throughout recent projects – Ducie Court Manchester University Student Accommodation and Booths Supermarket, Lytham St Anne's.

Bill Forsyth, LDG Contract Managing Director … "We are delighted that Marcus Worthington appointed us as their sub-contractor. We are continually watching LDG Contracts grow as a company and with the completion of Great Newton Street it is now a flag ship job for us in our portfolio of work. To be appointed the 2nd Phase which we are installing at present is gratifying."
