The Challenges
Ducie Court is a 614 Bedroom Student Scheme set in the heart of the University of Manchester, located just off the University Corridor of Oxford road.
The site was acquired by Marcus Worthington who commenced construction in October 2011 for Phase 1. LDG CONTRACTS was awarded the contract work as their preferred subcontractor, for aluminium windows, curtain walling and automatic entrances, specifically using Guardian ClimaGuard A+ and LamiGlass. The glazing specification varied around the project and meets the requirements of Secure by Design (SBD) on the ground floor. The contract was completed and handed over by Marcus Worthington on time at the end of August 2012 and already students are occupying all of Phase 1.
LDG CONTRACTS worked closely with Marcus Worthington to ensure targets, budgets and deadlines were met throughout the duration of the first phase, and to ensure this contract was completed on time.
Construction of Phase II has now commenced on site with a completion programmed for September 2013 to coincide with the start of the next academic year and LDG CONTRACTS are delighted to have been awarded the second phase by Marcus Worthington, whom we are proud to be associated with. Total contract Value for LDG Contracts is circa 1 MILLION POUNDS.
